Would you believe that this stall was opened by the owner when he was just 21 years old? The owner, Andre, and his father did so in 2020. Andre named it after himself and his brother, who also was the one who helped get it up and running.

Andre's relationship with Hokkien mee started all the way back when he was 14, when his dad used to run his own stall too. In hope of keeping his father's legacy alive, he decided to open YouFu Hokkien mee.

He eventually expanded to a stall in Woodlands and in 2023, his father opened his own stall at Chinatown Complex.

I've heard numerous good reviews about this place for years and finally, it was my turn to try it.

I reached the hawker centre around 7.30pm in the evening and there was still a snaking long queue even though it was so late. The food took some time to be prepared as there were a few people ahead of me in the queue.

Even before digging in, I could smell the strong wok hei in the dish. The noodles were soaked in umami-packed prawn stock - the most important part of the dish - and every bite was packed with flavour.

There are three sizes to chose from - $4, $5, $6, $8 - and I think $6 is good for one person!
