75 Ah Balling has been around since the 1947 selling these sweet traditional Chinese desserts till today. Mr. Aw Kim Chee started from a pushcart stall along Jalan Sultan more than 70 years ago and moved to Golden Mile Food Centre in 1975, which explains the name of the stall. Coincidentally, it is also the stall number, #01-75.

Apart from the signature ah balling in peanut soup - in which the recipe has not changed since - the stall now has a few soup flavours such as peanut, almond milk, ginger, and longan red date, as well as different options for the glutinous rice ball fillings: peanut, black sesame seed, red bean, yam and matcha.

The family-run business which is now helmed by third-generation owners, has another stall in Bedok.

Peanut

Yam

I am not one who craves for tang yuan, even during the festivals because it has always been a hit-or-miss with the frozen glutinous rice balls from the supermarket. When I tried 75 Ah Balling, I was reminded of the times I would actually bug my mother to cook just the peanut ones.

You definitely have to go for their peanuts rice balls because the sweet and silky molten filling oozes out with each bite, with just the perfect ratio of dough to fillings. I got the peanut soup which has been cooked for hours, giving it a more wholesome taste to this warm dessert. Will definitely be back to try the other flavours!
