Founded in 1989, China Whampoa Home Made Noodle was started by Ah Bee and his wife, Ah Chiam. They slowly become one of the most popular ban mian stalls in Singapore and aside from their original outlet at Whampoa Makan Place, they also have stores at ABC Coffeeshop, 61 Tanjong Pagar and an outlet at Geylang Lor 12 in Nam Wah Coffeeshop that is open 24 hours a day. As a testament to their excellent bowls of ban mian, they have received a mention by the Michelin Guide in 2016 for their wholesome bowls of ban mian.

Signature

Homemade Noodle with Prawns

Aside from regular bowls of ban mian, this stall sells very premium bowls of ban mian that I doubt you can find in many other places. I got the Abalone Ban Mian for $13 which is honestly quite affordable for the amount of ingredients it came with. The dish came presented in a very elaborate bowl that looked like an upside down pyramid and it came with handmade noodles, abalone, razor clams, prawns, pork skin, pork balls, egg, vegetables and ikan bilis. The texture of the noodles were really good and it was thick and chewy with a good bite to it. The abalones and razor clams were also fresh and sizeable, adding a nice chewy texture to the dish. I also really loved the soup which was savoury but not too salty. The portion size was also huge and it could feed two people with small appetites.
