Located at Chong Boon Market & Food Centre, this stall doesn’t sport a long line of queue as compared to other food stalls at the food centre there, however it is a great option if you are looking for something soupy to fill your hungry tummy.

Kway Chap is served in a bowl of steamed flat rice kueh-like texture, along with a plate of braised pigs innards and offal that will appeal to a group or people who loves these savoury delights. The usuals include tau pok, tau gua, small and large pig intestines, egg, pig skin and even slices of meat. For the spicy lovers, there is no doubt that the chilli served with it is one of the core and main part of enjoying a bowl of kway chap.

The stall owners here aren’t the ones who will joke with their customers, but you can tell that they take pride in their work and it shows in the food that they serve.

I’d never say no a bowl of kway chap, especially during a rainy day. As a fan of this braised dish, I would say Hai Sing Kway Chap is an above-average stall amongst the stalls I’ve eaten so far. And for the affordable price, I am surprised at the lacklustre fare it has amongst the other stalls in this food centre.

The broth and soup based is slightly salty for my taste, but when eaten with the broad and thin rice sheets, it goes perfectly well together. For the variety of side dishes like the innards, pig skin and tau pok, they were clean and fresh. The large and small intestines were chewy and added a nice texture to the overall palate.

For portion-wise, I’d say it’s average, like what you’ll find at most hawker places. If you’re hungry and would like to avoid long queues, then this will be a perfect stall for your lunch meal.
