Hjh Maimunah Restaurant began in 1992 by Madam Mahiran Abdul Rahman. She continued family recipes passed down from her grandmother, down the road she continued to grow the menu to include an extensive 40+ dishes as the cooks introduced new recipes to the restaurant. With labour-intensive dishes that take up to 5 hours to make, premium ingredients, and a charcoal grill - this is the standard to follow to stick to traditions. Hjh Maimunah currently has 3 outlets along with a catering side.

Signature

Honestly the best Malay/Indonesian cuisine I've ever tasted in my life (and dare I say you will as well!). I have been coming here since my childhood, and the food always felt and tasted like home cooking. At the nasi padang place, you can choose from an assortment of dishes, from curries to veggies, seafood to begedils (deep fried potato pancakes), and desserts - and much. much. more. Ordered was a nasi padang plate consisting of sambal prawns, a huge juicy fried chicken wing, begedil, spicy coconut-y beef rendang, finished with a dollop of very spicy, yet sweet fresh sambal belacan and steaming white rice. Every part of the dish was my favourite part. Try picturing what the perfect version of this dish would look like - that's what it looked like (drools)... Big and juicy plump prawns, saucy tender beef rendang, a succulent thick fried chicken wing, soft spiced begedil, all accompanied with a bite of the spicy sambal on top of the rice. It was absolutely glorious. The dish came to $11.60, which is good considering the generous serving of top quality, labour-intensive dishes that were cooked for its loyal patrons. Popular with tourists and locals alike - I can't recommend this place enough! (pictured above)
