Selling kway chap, a dish that has a mixed audience because of the innards and offals and intestines that the dish requires, some people hate it while some people love it. It also serves with a bowl of flat rice sheets with flavourful soupy gravy that is a tad salty.
At Albert Food Centre, the place has a wide variety of food options to choose from. And because there aren’t many options for Kway Chap, so expect queues during prime meal times. While the cooking of the dishes is mainly chopping, scooping and prepping, but it does take a lot of work the days before when it comes to making this dish great. To braised the ingredients is always about the time that is needed hours beforehand, and you can taste it well.
The stallowners are pretty friendly, but because of the rush, but don’t expect conversations to be made. You can add ingredients to it, but a basic plate should be more than enough for one.
This has got to be one of my favourite kway chap stall at Albert Food Centre. I personally love Kway chap, so I do expect some goodness from this stall. The queue is rather long and you can wait in line for at least 10-15minutes, especially during peak periods.
The normal kway chap set comes with eggs, braised pig intestines, tao kwa, tao pok and fish cake slices. The kway is chewy, fresh and very smooth. The braised soup or gravy isn’t too salty and has a good flavour to it. The braised ingredients are okay in terms of portion, but would definitely like a bit more. However, I must say everything on that plate packs a lot of flavours, shows the hours of braising the ingredients.
If you are not rushing for time, this is a great meal to get.
