Ding Shan Vegetarian has been at Tiong Bahru Market for almost a decade and is helmed by a very friendly, young couple.

While the food here is catered to vegetarians, the options are delicious enough for almost anyone, even meat lovers! Here, you can get noodles like fried hor fun and fried bee hoon and pair it with a variety of ingredients like vegetarian char siew and mock fish. It is similar to cai fan (mixed rice) where you can mix and match your dishes with a carbohydrate of your choice. Do head down early to avoid disappointment!

I’ll admit that I am not a huge fan of vegetarian — I love my meat too much! But I saw plenty of people eating their food one afternoon and was curious to see what all the hype was all about. I ordered myself a plate of white beehoon accompanied by vegetarian char siew, fried beancurd, cabbage and mushrooms. And I can see what is the hype!

The ingredients were delicious. I especially enjoyed the fried beancurd, which added a nice crunch to the food. The mock char siew was also not as bad as I had anticipated it to me and honestly, I wouldn’t mind ordering food from this stall again.
