Tai Seng Fish Soup at Taman Jurong Food Centre is not to be confused with Thai Seng Fish Soup at Ubi. This stall is a family-run business that is currently being helmed by Nick Cheong, who took over the reins from his mother and grandmother.

The business started out as a humble street stall over 50 years ago at Track 60, which was off Old Jurong Road. Nick's mother took over the business in 2005 and later, he did so.

Their fish soup has won multiple praise from diners from all walks of life. In fact, their food is so good that they were even listed in the Michelin Bib Gourmand 2023!

Here, diners have options like sliced fish soup, fried fish soup and fish head soup. There is also fish porridge for those who want something more soothing.

I arrived around 2.30pm on a Saturday and was afraid that the stall would be closed by then, but thankfully, it wasn't! There was not much of a queue either so I ordered and got my food under 5 minutes.

I got the mix fish soup which comes with both sliced and fried fish, and requested for it to have milk, like I always do. I also paired it with a bowl of rice.

My concern with sliced fish is the smelly, unfresh smell but the ones here didn't have that. The texture was also firm and smooth. The fried fish was crisp on the exterior yet tender on the inside. I also loved the soup which wasn't thin and full of MSG like most fish soups — this one had layers of flavours!
