Xing Yun Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice has been in the hawker scene for several years and evident from its long queues, it is one of the most popular stalls at Yuhua Market & Hawker Centre.

This isn't surprising either as the stall has a Michelin Plate from the Michelin Guide, which praises the stall for its tender chicken meat and aromatic rice.

The name Xing Yun translates from lucky in Chinese and you are truly lucky if you can get a plate of their chicken rice minus the queues!

Their menu is straightforward — steamed or roasted chicken meat (normal sliced, thigh or drumstick) with rice. You can also order a half or whole chicken for sharing if you'd like.

Be here early because they usually sell out by lunch time!

While I reached around 12pm, the queue had already snaked all the way to the back of the hawker centre.

I waited a good 20 minutes before it was my turn to order and while the staff were fast in pushing out plates of food, it still was quite a wait.

I ordered the steamed chicken rice and opted to add a seasoned egg. They have two sizes and I ordered the smaller one.

Upon first impression, the chicken was tender and the skin added a nice fattiness to it. The rice was also fragrant but not too greasy.

My only gripe was that the portion was too small for me so next time when I come back, I will be sure to order the bigger one.
