Since 1998, Formosa Delights has been known for its quality handmade noodles and pastries.
The humble brand first started out in a small food court stall serving authentic Taiwanese cuisine. However, as Taiwanese food was not as popular as local food when it came to food courts, they decided to venture into the world of handmade noodles and became experts at the craft.
Since then, they've expanded to have multiple stalls in many food courts across Singapore and even set up a restaurant at 20 Clementi Road, where it specialises in popular Chinese food from different regions.
Their Suntec City stall is especially popular with Singaporeans and tourists alike who want to enjoy a good plate of handmade noodles.
Signature
Black Pepper Chicken Noodles, Braised Pork Noodles/ Rice, Handmade Noodles, Knife - Shaven Noodles, Seafood/ Beef/ Black Pepper Chicken/ Tomato w Egg Noodle, Stewed Mushroom Noodles
I love myself a hearty plate of handmade noodles and the I've been eating the ones from Formosa Delights for years.
Their knife-shaven noodles are especially good and these are prepared by using a knife to shave off strips of noodles from a block of dough! This gives the noodles an extremely unique texture and no two strands are alike.
Chewy with a good bite, these noodles are drenched in a savory sauce that completes the dish. I enjoyed mine with seafood (prawns, fishcakes and squid) but there are also other options like beef and pork.
I also got a basket of steamed soup buns (aka xiao long baos). These were delightful too and it was very fun poking the skin and revealing the minced meat and soup hidden inside!
