There aren't many stalls that specialises in Sarawak dishes, so this affordable stall located at Amoy Street Food Centre (undoubtly one of the more popular hawker centres in Singapore), serving up various variations of the Sarawak Noodles.
There are a variety of noodle dishes such as the mala noodles, which many people do go for, as well as dry and soup options. Of course, if you are looking for the traditional kind, then opt for the traditional-classic Sarawak noodles. Or Sarawak laksa is an option you may go for.
For all the dishes, there is a huge pot of soup where customers can dish out a bowl of soup for themselves. This little gesture does make customers less angsty with their wait - especially during peak times, as they have an additional 'action' to do.
If you are hungry, add more sides such as chicken cutlet, or fried/dry wantons to complement your meal, or share with friends and colleagues. The staff are also really friendly to their customers.
I got the traditional Sarawak Kampua Noodles, as I didn't know what to expect queueing for this stall. I went during quite the peak of lunch period, and there were a few people in front of me, but not too crazy like some other stalls.
However, I did have to wait about 10 minutes to order my food, and it came rather quickly. I thought the noodles was chewy and with the ingredients like the char siew, wanton and minced meat, along with vegetables. The noodles itself didn't have much of a taste, so be sure to mix all the ingredients together. The minced meat sauce adds a little saltiness to it, and so add chilli - or go with the mala for the extra kick.
It was enough for 1 person, but for hungry lunch souls, this portion may not be enough.
