Located at Circuit Road Food Centre, Ho Jia Bo Fishball Minced Meat Noodle is one of the many stalls here that have newspaper and magazine clippings around the stall front.
As there weren't many people in the hawker centre in general, so there wasn't a queue in front of me as well.
The stall owner - affectionately known as 'auntie', wasn't too friendly. As with most noodle orders, you'll need to decide if you're looking for soup or dry, chilli or no chilli, and some, tomato or dark sauce. For this auntie, she was a little impatient with the ordering, but made the order very quickly.
The hawker center is known for more elderly customers due to the nature of the neighbourhood estates around there. So it's more affordable in price, and crowds are usually in the morning compared to lunch times.
Of course, if you are looking for a quick and decent meal, this hits the right spots for a craving.
When it comes to fishball noodles - whether dry or soup, I'd say locals and residents alike are picky about what they like and don't. So finding a stall that hits the right spot is quite rare, and this serves up affordable and rather delicious bowls of noodles - if you are ok with a grumpy lady making your noodles.
The noodles is coated really well with the chilli and sauce, and is chewy with each bite. I thought it was cooked really well. However, it was quite oily after a while. Perhaps the soup that was served with it was there to wash it down. Portion-wise, it was more than enough for 1 person, or even for a hungry person. Ultimately, flavour wise was pretty decent, texture was good but the atmosphere of the hawker may feel a little too quiet for a weekday lunch.
