Having the ingredients from Yong Tau Foo with fishball noodles sounds like a great combination, and it is! Hui Ji Fishball Noodles does just that. While it doesn’t give you a plenty of variety at Yong Tao Foo stalls have, there is a good enough selection to pair with noodles.

The stallowners are rather friendly, but when it gets too crowded and packed with people, don’t expect them to be overly friendly, chatting up with customers. There is only essentially 1 dish to be ordered, so there isn’t much fretting on what you would like to order.

Tiong Bahru Market is a large place, filled with many stalls. Many people flock there for breakfast and lunch, and most stalls are filled with customers waiting in line for their food. Definitely more stalls than tables during peak hours, but it’s worth the trip for some of the best local fare out there.

Combining Yong Tao Foo and Fishball noodles sounds like a great pairing – chewy fishball noodles and added ingredients from the yong tao foo to make this a great meal. When I was there, there wasn’t a long queue compared to the other stalls despite the long history of this name, and luckily for me, I didn’t have to wait long.

The springy handmade fishball was chewy and tasty, went really well with the noodles and chilli that goes along with it. In each bowl, there were slices of fish cake and fish balls and minced meat. The Yong Tao Foo added a layer of saltiness to the overall taste, and of course, the ingredients like tao pok and tofu added into it.

I enjoyed this dish, and with the spiciness of the chilli, and the dash of vinegar, it was a hearty lunch at one of the popular hawker centers in Singapore.
