Located near the MRT station, this stall serves up a variety of homemade dishes and soup options like Ban main, Fish Soup, Dumpling Soup and even Xiao Long Bao. Opening hours for this stall is also a little longer than the rest of the other eateries here, often opening up till the late afternoons on weekdays.
The shopkeepers aren’t exactly the friendliest people and they do get a little frustrated when there is an inch of indecisiveness, especially when they are shorthanded during the peak hours. Although there are only 2, maximum 3 people manning the stall at one time, the waiting time to get your food is rather quick, so that’s a good thing especially when you are hungry.
For those getting the Xiao Long Bao, waiting time will be a little longer as they only steamed it with each order. Portion-wise, it is a decent sizing fit for a hungry diner.
I ordered the Ban Main soup and waited about 10 minutes for my bowl of pipping hot noodle soup. It is good to also note that I went there slightly after lunch hours, so there weren’t many people in the queue before me. The clean dining area made it a nice lunch spot, especially during colder days after a rainy shower.
Like most ban mian bowls, it comes with minced meat, handmade noodles and an egg. The taste of the soup isn’t too bland, considering the colour of the soup. I could do a little more with the saltiness of it, but thanks to the ikan bilis that made it just a little more pleasant to the palate.
