Fusion bowls are usually a hit or miss. Located at Our Tampines Hub, the Ippon Fusion Bowl has a variety of donburi bowls that put a twist to the rice bowls, with interesting ingredients to pair with it such as the buttermilk chicken, Chinese pork belly, etc.

It was said that the owners took some time for improvements where their signature noodle dish was reworked a few times through the constant feedback by their customers. From noodle bowl and rice bowl selections, there’s bound to be something for you. To add on, their images on their menu looked too gorgeous to eat as well.

The shop owners mending the stall are friendly with my requests, as well as open to recommendations. It took about 10-15minutes from ordering to get my food, so that’s quite a reasonable amount, despite the prime lunch hour on a weekend.

Our Tampines Hub’s food centre area is clean and lots of good food around, just that it does take a while to find a seat!

Signature

Ippon Noodle Bowl , Ippon Pork Rice Bowl

I wasn’t expecting much when I ordered a bowl of their Ippon Pork Rice Bowl, the 2nd most popular dish there. It had slices of the Chinese pork belly over with chopped spring onions and radish, on top on Japanese rice. The Chashu is braised in-house, grilled before serving and you can tell with the charred sides and taste.

If what you see on the picture looked so good, I would say the taste of it matched it very well. I thought it was a delicious bowl of donburi and the charshu pork was grilled beautifully. Portion-wise, it was enough for a hungry 1 person like myself and I felt the pickled radish added a nice crunch as well as the sour-like taste that really goes well with the overall palate. I was impressed by this dish and will be back to try out their other signature dishes.
