Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodles has several outlets in Singapore, with one of its newer ones at Fernvale Hawker Centre.
The exterior of the shop is plastered with awards, newspaper clippings and accolades, a testament to the quality of food they have to offer.
The queues and waiting times here can get quite long but thankfully, they provide each customer with a buzzer so that they don’t need to wait around the stall for your food and can just come and collect it when it’s ready.
Apart from prawn noodles, they also have other options such as pigs tail noodle, pig liver noodle and pork rib noodles.
I was anticipating a long queue since their Old Airport Road always has huge crowds but thankfully, while I did have to wait, it wasn't as bad.
I ordered the prawn and pork ribs version dry. Here, you can choose what noodles you want and I got bee hoon.
The noodles were tossed in a unique, spicy mix that packed a punch. I also like how generous they were with the pork rib and prawns. The pork ribs especially were impressive and very fleshy!
As I ordered the dry version, they gave me a bowl of their soup on the side and this was the highlight of meal. It was extremely concentrated and full of umami, and I daresay one of the best prawn soups I've had from a prawn noodle stall to date. I'd come back just for the soup!
