Wimbly Lu isn’t a stranger to the cafe hoppers or the dessert lovers in Singapore. With 3 outlets in Singapore, many people flock to the cafe for food, drinks and desserts. The interior of the Serangoon outlet has a cosy and fantasy-like decorum, as well as a touch on vintage hint to the overall look and feel of the area.
It is quite a popular hangout eatery, so be sure to head there early or you’d have to wait for quite a while before being seated. And if you think about just going for the desserts, trust me - many people are doing the same. They are also known for their ice cream flavours - from classic chocolate and salted caramel to premium flavours like rum and raisin, and earl grey. Get their handmade chocolate truffles as well. The waffles is also a favourite - with options of single or double scoop ice cream to go with it.
I ordered the waffles with salted caramel ice cream to go with the classic dessert. As someone who has heard a lot about their waffles, I was a little surprised that it wasn’t mind-blowingly great. It’s good, fluffy and light, with a little crisp around the edges. It is enough for one person to finish if you rather have this than your main course, but perhaps it won’t be enough for 3 or even 2 dessert-craving eaters to share.
The salted caramel was a great choice - creamy and rich, with the right salty taste that pairs well with the waffles. The size of the scoop was modest, enough for the entire waffles. Despite having a preference for thick and dense waffles, I enjoyed the light and fluffy waffles Wimbly Lu serves.
