Scrambled eggs on rice may be a simple dish but finding a bowl of it in Singapore's hawker centre is not that easy. So, Danlao's concept sure is intriguing.
It was started by four young hawkers, two of which were former chefs at popular Eggslut Singapore, so you're guranteed to get creamy, delicious eggs.
They push out Hong Kong-style egg rice dishes where the warm bed of rice is topped with a blanket of creamy scrambled eggs.
There are just 5 different menu items — scrambled egg rice with tomato, luncheon meat, chicken cutlet, char siew and prawn — but each one is exciting in its own way.
If you can't settle for just one ingredient, you can always add it on for a small price.

When I arrived around 2pm on a Saturday, there was a short queue. Yet, the chefs were busy with plenty of delivery orders, which goes to show how popular they are.
I ordered myself a Scrambled Egg Chicken Cutlet Rice and at the last minute, I decided to add on their prawns as these look very fresh and plump.
No regrets in doing that! The prawns added a lovely sweet crunch to the dish and paired surprisingly well with the crispy chicken cutlet.
What I also like about the chicken cutlet was that while it's skin was crackling, the meat maintained a juicy tenderness. For just $9.50, this was extremely value-for-money and definitely a wonderful addition to the food gems of CBD. Will come back!
