First opened by Chef Sunny Tong in 1987, Feng Sheng Chicken Rice & Steamboat opened its first outlet in Ghim Moh Market located in the West before moving to Dover. The 2nd Generation owner is now juggling two outlets, one in Rochor and another in Shenton Foodhall, both in the central area of Singapore. Enjoy authentic local Singapore flavours through their Hainanese Chicken Rice, Satay, Cai Poh Neng (Preserved Radish Omelet), Chicken Wings and more! Open until 6AM on weekends, feast to your heart's delight all night long!
This shop has been reputed well by some local media. I decided to try some of their signature dishes.
I ordered their staple dishes; the crispy Prawn Roll, the really unique fried Satay as I was used to Satay charred over fire, and the Cai Poh Omelet, which had crunchy preserved radish paired with the fluffy and thin layer of egg. The Satay was such a stand-out; so marinated that it did not need to be dipped in peanut sauce. My husband exclaimed that this would be a favourite for our kids.
Moving on to the steamed and roasted Chicken Rice... Yes, I went all out... Both were sprinkled with crunchy garlic chips that paired well with the juiciness of the meat. Even though I typically go with roasted chicken, I really like the steamed chicken from here! The meat looked so exquisite; thick and tender, layered with translucent, bouncy skin brimming with collagen. I'm going to leave the hotpot for next time!
Oh, my clothes did smell of chicken rice because I sat right next to the showcase of chicken, so do sit outside at the alfresco seats or all the way inside the restaurant if you don't want your clothes to smell!
