One of the exclusive dish at Tamoya Udon is its Truffle Tonkotsu Udon, among others such as Beef Sukiyaki, Pork, etc. There are 17 outlets worldwide, and the one in Plaza Singapura offers a lot of variety of udon, from chewy to firm texture. Its flour is flown in from Japan, and handmade in-store daily. Lots of condiments that complement the udon as well.

If you are here during prime meal times, then be prepared to wait for while. The place is mostly always spotted with a queue, well-loved by young teenagers to older adults. There isn’t a lunch set per se, but lunch deals.

If you enjoy tempura, then this is a good place to be - for its name also has the food item in it. The crispy crunch flour wrapped around favourite ingredients like prawn, crab stick, mushroom, vegetables, etc.

Beef Udon, Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen, Black Garlic Tonkotsu Udon, Mentaiko Salmon Bento, Sanuki Beef Onsen Egg Udon, Tempura, Truffle Tonkotsu Ramen

I’ve never heard of this Japanese restaurant, and have always spotted long queues in front of the place. I was glad to be able to try it finally when the queue wasn’t that crazy. I went a little earlier during lunch time and was able to get a seat rather quickly. I was taken aback from the extensive menu and variety of food.

I ended up with Tonkotsu Udon. The broth was tasty, deep and very rich, however it was a tad salty for my tastebuds. Ingredients and portion wise, was definitely enough for one person, and the udon was more than sufficient.

The udon was chewy and soft, its texture is something you can tell that it wasn’t from a machine frozen pack. I felt the udon also had soaked in the broth, where each bite has a nice flavour to it as well. The ingredients definitely gave the overall palate a nice and balanced texture, but it was too rich that I needed water or tea to cleanse it. Will be back for other flavours.
