Big images of prawns in orange-like shrimp-based soup is plastered all around this restaurant, Le Shrimp, located at Star Vista. Inspired by the flavours of Japanese ramen and Chinese la main, Le Shrimp offers both pork and prawn soup broths, with fish, seafood and of course, prawn options with noodles.
According to the story of this eatery, big fresh prawns are baked at 180-degrees and simmered for more than 8 hours with lots of ingredients and spices to create the flavourful stock.
Do be prepared to wait for a while, especially during peak lunch and dinner hours as the space isn’t quite big, so do go early if you are hungry.
It was the orange-looking soup images that attracted me to this restaurant. The waiting time took a while, but the first step into the restaurant, I thought it looked more like a Chinese restaurant instead. One great thing is that I got my food very quickly after placing my order.
I was rather shocked when I saw the huge bowl of noodles because of the huge portion. It was plated with fresh prawns, prawn dumplings and handmade ebiko prawn paste. I loved the ebiko prawn paste as it was something unique to this eatery. The noodles was springy and chewy but I couldn’t finish it all.
When it come to the soup base, I couldn’t figure if it tasted more of a Japanese or Chinese-influenced taste, but I definitely thought it was a rich bowl and very flavorful. There is a smoky aroma to it, but the rich taste does get a little too much before I could finish the soup.
