Tong Fong Fatt Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice has been around for decades. Fun fact — before they sold chicken rice, they actually sold sugarcane juice back at Chong Pang Village!
Eventually, the founder's son, Augustine Koh, took over the business and partnered with his brother-in-law to sell chicken rice at ABC Brickworks Food Centre in the mid-nineties.
And today, they have multiple outlets islandwide and are a household name. You've probably seen their stall at a nearby hawker centre!
What makes their chicken rice special is the sauce, which is made with a secret recipe containing 12 special ingredients.
It's hard not to come across Tong Fong Fatt Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice — they have outlets everywhere!
I visited the one at the newly-renovated Market Street Hawker Centre and during lunch, their queues are quite long. Thankfully, these move pretty fast and I was served in no time.
The food was decent. The chicken slices were thick, moist and tender. The rice was also substantially fragrant while not being too greasy. I got the $3.50 portion which was sizeable for one pax.
All-in-all, a decent chicken rice, especially considering it is a chain.
