For 30 years, this stall was at Yishun and the two sisters worked together to produce chee cheong fun. After which, they separated and one sister went to Old Airport Road Chee Cheong Fun while the other decided to retire. Eventually, the retired sister decided to resume her business and set up her stall at Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre, which has been in the business for a few years. While the recipes are pretty similar, the sisters tweak it a little so each stall has its own special version, with the Marsiling rendition being a little on the sweeter side. Currently, their brother helps out at the Marsiling stall. Fun fact — he used to work at a tzi char restaurant prior to this, so he’s pretty skilled in the kitchen himself!
I was really excited to find this stall here at Marsiling Mall Hawker Centre as I had already previously tried the food from their Old Airport Road Hawker Centre outlet. The sister-and-brother duo are incredibly friendly and had a nice chat with me as they fulfilled my order. As their menu is pretty vast, I had a hard time choosing what I wanted but eventually settled on the prawn, char siew, scallop and otak rolls — yes, they even have an otak option! It was very mesmerising watching the uncle put together the rolls and these were served steaming hot. They were split across two plates and doused in a addictive sweet soya sauce which added flavour to the plain rice rolls. All of the rice rolls were really really good, but I have to say that the otak was my favourite simply because where else can you find otak rolls?
