Jin’s Noodle has been around at the bustling Amoy Street Food Centre since 2018 and is helmed by a hardworking brother-and-sister duo. They specialise in, as the stall’s name says, sarawak kolo mee, which is not as commomly found as other hawker favourites like ban mian.
For the uninitiated, kolo mee is a Sarawak Malaysian dry noodle dish where thenoodles are tossed in a savoury pork and shallot mix. The noodles also are similar to instant noodles in terms of shape and texture. Here, there are only three menu items on the dish — Signature Sarawak Kolo Mee, Spinach Noodle or Chicken Cutlet Kolo Mee.
I came here slightly after the hectic lunch crowd on a weekday afternoon, so there was no queue for the food. Thankfully, there was still food for sale and I got myself a bowl of Signature Sarawak Kolo Mee.
The springy noodles came topped with an abundance of ingredients like char siew, fried wontons, boiled wontons, shallots, bok choy and minced meat. What I love about kolo mee is the texture of the noodles and the ones from Jin’s Noodle sure delivered — springy and al dente with a good bite. This paired well with the ingredients and I was definitely full and satisfied after the meal.
