This stall, like many others at Amoy Street Food Centre, is open only during lunch period on weekdays as their main customer base are office workers in the CBD area. It is run by an adorable elderly couple, Mr and Mrs Ho, who started the stall in 2016. Mrs Ho loves Korean food and Mr Ho previously worked in a restaurant, which is what inspired them both to open a shop selling Korean Food. They feel that at their age, this is the best way that they can earn money and keep themselves occupied. Their business has decreased significantly due to Covid-19, as well as the fact that many people have to work from home, so do try to give them some support if you can!
Signature
Fried Octopus in Spicy Sauce, Marinated B.B.Q Beef, Spicy Soft Tofu Soup
I ordered the Marinated B.B.Q Beef $6.50, which came served to me on a shiny metal tray, similar to those that you can get from a canteen. The food was neatly separated into compartments which made it look like a bento set. My set came with bulgogi beef, an assortment of pickles, rice, soup and a fried egg. The beef was marinated well and tender, with a slightly sweet flavour from the B.B.Q sauce. I really love the addition of the pickles and this is actually my first time having pickles in a hawker centre setting! Helping to cut through the strong flavours of the beef, the pickles were crunchy, refreshing and sweet. For Korean-style food, it’s really priced super affordably, especially since the shop is located in the CBD area, where food is usually expensive.
