There are not many stalls around Singapore that still has its below $4 price range, especially when it comes to main dishes like noodles or rice. So it’s nice to see a stall that not only serves good bowls of noodles, it retains at an affordable price for all to enjoy. For the price as well, the portions are generous.

There aren’t many stall owners in this stall, but it’s safe to say that their work feels like clockwork, taking orders and cooking to serve their customers quickly. Like most noodle stalls, there are options of what kind of noodles you are looking for – mee pok, yellow noodles, bee hoon or thin yellow noodles, I’d say go with the dry option with chilli if you can take spicy food.

There will most likely be a queue at this stall for its long history with the customers and namesake in Singapore, but it’s definitely worth it. If you are feeling hungry, then go for the bigger options or add-on fish balls on the side. Go during the morning or afternoon only.

It took me about 15 minutes of waiting time for the 6th person in line. It didn’t feel too long, but because I went during the lunch period, there will hungry and ‘grumpy’ people behind me who did felt like the wait was too long, and exited after a while.

For the $3.50 base price for a bowl of dried noodles, I thought it was more than worth it. Portions were enough for me, with about 3 fishballs in my bowl of soup. I love that the noodles are tangy, chewy and doesn’t stick to one another, and the fishballs were chewy, slightly salty and bouncy little gems! The vinegar in the sauce added a really nice taste to the overall taste, and soup was more on the bland side – which was good because of all the mixed rich flavours from the noodles and fishball.

The wait was worth it and I’ll be back if I craved for fishballs.
