Teo Heng Fishball Minced Meat Noodle is run by an elderly couple and they now have hired other people to help them out so they don’t get so overwhelmed. The stall not only sells extremely pocket-friendly bowls of noodles; they also are open 24 hours so you can satisfy your noodle cravings at any time of the day. When all the other stalls in the food centre have shuttered for the day, theirs is the only one with the lights on even during the wee hours of the morning. Due to this, they have a never-ending stream of hungry patrons who can be seen queueing from afar.
I came at around 8pm and even though the bulk of the hawkers had closed for the day, the folks at Teo Heng Fishball Minced Meat Noodle were still open and tirelessly churning out piping hot bowls of noodles. I got myself the Fresh Prawn Minced Meat Noodle which sounds very premium but actually cost just $4 a bowl. This came with prawns, minced meat, meatballs and fish cake atop a bed of springy noodles. In all honesty, I was expecting the prawns to be small and rubbery but surprisingly, these were chunky, crunchy and very succulent. The noodles were also tossed in a very flavourful sauce and the noodles were a perfect al dente. Portion sizes were sizeable too, meaning that you get plenty of bang for your buck.
