When you spot a signboard that says 'Chef Goo', you may wonder how great this chef could be. For this stall at Alexandra Village Food Centre, this rather young chef made a name for himself despite the little experience compared to his competitors in this hawker centre.

Chef Goo was a former limousine taxi driver and joined the Hawkers’ Development Programme during covid and opened this business to cater to customers. Despite the young stall, there are already many magazine writeups and newspapers articles plastered around the shop.

There are a variety of Hokkien Noodle choices, and pao fan options. While there isn't a long line of people queuing for this stall, I must say that there is something very inviting to this particular noodle-rice shop.

Most of the dishes are cooked when ordered, so be prepared to wait a little while as he makes your order. Of course when in doubt, can the recommended dish, which his stall has clearly indicated.

Signature

Red Sea Prawns Fried Hokkien Mee, Seafood Poached Rice

It is definitely a little more pricey than what you would expect from other Hokkien Mee stalls, only because it comes with thick and juicy red prawns as compared to the small ones from the cheaper stalls.

The amount of yellow noodles is also a really good portion for one, along with squid, thin pork belly slices and crispy lard.

Of course, no hokkien mee is complete without the belacan chilli. That gives that extra kick. While the sauce is tasty, - a combination of salty and a savoury umami taste to it. I'm not complaining that it's a little wetter than usual, so the texture is very 'slurppable'.
