Soon Ming Duck Rice is located at the bustling Bedok 85 Feng Shan Market and has been around for many years.
As their name suggests, their speciality lies in braised duck and they have an array of duck-related dishes like duck rice, duck porridge and duck gizzard. You can just get duck alone as well and they have portion sizes for 1 to 3 people. You can even get specific parts like the duck thighs, duck wings and even the duck thigh!
Apart from duck, they also have braised pork rice and braised pork porridge for those who are looking for other food options.
In all honesty, I've never heard of Soon Mong Teochew Duck Rice & Porridge before until I walked past their stall at Bedok 85 Feng Shan Market & Food Centre. They're hidden in an obscure corner towards the back of the market, faraway from all the action of the bbq and chicken wing stalls that the food centre is famed for.
And boy, did I wish I find out about them sooner. The duck rice here is one of the better ones I've had. Most other places have duck which have a hard, rough texture that is hard to bite into. However, the one here at Soon Mong Teochew Duck Rice & Porridge was uber tender and juicy. It also had a great fat to meat ratio, which added on to the texture. I got the one person set ($6.50) set so I got a heap of rice to pair along with my duck meat and it was very worth it. Would definitely be back!
