Located at the Berseh Food Centre, this Kway Chap stall is usually packed with people, lining up for their plate of offal soupy dish, while others wait for Pig Organs soup. Kway Chap is a Teochew dish with slices of thin rice sheets in the braised soup, served with a plate of an assortment of braised ingredients such as pig’s organs, meat, fishcake, tau pok and tau kua.
At Berseh Food Centre, the location is rather out of the way from an MRT station, but I’d say it’s quite a food heaven for food lovers with an array of items for customers to enjoy. For this stall, it’s easy to miss it among the rows of stalls, but with the long lines of queues, it’s not hard to spot it. The area is rather clean, but there is no escape from the wandering pigeons looking out for leftover food scraps.
The stall owners are quick and efficient, with two people working closely to make sure the queue lines are shortened as quick as possible. While one takes order, the other preparing the food items.

Kway Chap, Kway Chap Braised Delight
I have always enjoyed Kway Chap and had my fair share of these delicious bowls throughout my years living in Singapore. So to try out this stall, I was rather excited to see if it deserved the title of the Michelin Guide Singapore listing.
For the price, I had a good serving of the braised sides. For some people who don’t fancy this dish, it is the smell that puts them off. The taste is as important as the smell and if the offal aren’t cleaned and washed properly, there is a lingering smell to it. Safe to say, the Kelantan Kway Chap doesn’t have that lingering smell and in fact, pretty chewy, fragrant and tasty.
Compared to other plates of kway chap, I’d say this Kelantan Kway Chap is lighter in terms of colour and richness, by no means less tasty. But I also felt that it was a little saltier compared to others that I’ve eaten from. The marination of the braised ingredients is a great meal whether for lunch. Will be back for more when I’m near the vicinity.
