Established in 1962, Tiong Bahru Fishball was founded by Mr Loh, who insisted that making the best fish balls recquire sheer dedication and commitment.

Hence, he ensures that his fishballs are made with the freshest Ikan Parang, which is also known as Wolf Herring fish or Sai Tor Her.

The food here is also crafted with traditional family recipes so the taste of their products are very unique to their brand.

The family business also takes pride in adding zero flour to the food so that you are getting 100% fish meat in every fish cake and fish ball.

Apart from their fish-related menu items, they also sell otah, fried beancurd and four colour rolls so that you have more variety to choose from.

I usually visit their Tiong Bahru Market outlet and I wanted to see if the products at their other branches were as good.

I ordered a mix of fried fishball, fried dumplings and other fishcakes. These are neatly displayed in trays at the front of the stall and all you have to do is tell the hawker which items you (or you can simply just point at what you want) and they will help you put it in a plastic bag.

Most of the ingredients are sold in sets. For instance, three fried wantons for $1.50 and two big fishcakes for $1.50.

The fishcakes are as good as the ones from Tiong Bahru Market which means that they are consistent across the board! I love how these are great eaten as a snack, or they can be added to your other food as extra ingredients.

One tip — I usually buy these home and air fry them! It tastes really good.
