Established in 1997, Mizzy Corner has been at Changi Village for decades and is known to be one of the most popular nasi lemak stalls in Singapore. It also made news in 2017 when their stall caught fire while one of the staff was cooking the sambal sauce. What makes Mizzy Corner special is their rice. Instead of using the usual nasi lemak rice, they use coconut-infused basmati rice which is thinner and more well separated. With so many various nasi lemak stalls at Changi Village, it is also known that Mizzy Corner is in constant competition with the other stalls, especially International Muslim Food Stall Nasi Lemak and Sri Sujana.
Mizzy Corner had the longest queue when I visited the market; even past lunchtime, the queue was around 10 minutes long! However, after tasting their nasi lemak, I realised that it was for a good reason. What truly makes them stand out is their use of basmati rice, and I really love the texture of it, as well as how well separated it was. Infused in coconut oil, the rice was extremely fragrant without being too greasy. This paired well with the sambal chilli sauce which had just the right amount of sweetness and spiciness to it. I could honestly just eat only a plate of their sambal and rice to be satisfied! Their fried chicken was fantastic too and was decently meaty with an addictively crispy skin. The portion size was also generous and. I felt very full after. Overall, a very simple yet well-executed dish that is worth the long queues.
