What makes curry rice such a beloved comfort food because not only its rich, aromatic flavours, but the hearty combination of ingredients. The dish is incredibly versatile, often featuring tender meats like chicken, pork, or beef, along with vegetables such as potatoes and carrots. It’s usually served in hawker stalls and ends with a very generous scoop of curry.

Changi Village is known for its food and it is very packed during the peak meal times, as well as over the weekends. People flock there for food, offering a range of food that people love. It’s quite hard to find a place and be prepared to queue. For curry rice, it’s also a bit longer because you get to choose your own ingredients, so people do take their time sometimes. Stall owners are rather chill and friendly, as they do know people tend to stall during their orders. There are a few pre-selected dishes for easy ordering.

Even if you are not a spicy lover, we strongly recommend to ask for that generous douse of curry over your rice. The aim is to have every scoop of rice with curry. It usually isn’t too spicy as it is meant to serve a mass appeal.

Curry rice is one of the standout comfort foods in Singapore, and Hock Good is one that holds a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike, as seen by the long queues.
The white rice as the base, is usually a bit soft than grainy, as it is, in my opinion, better when you have a whole scoop of curry doused over it.

Ingredients wise, there is a good range of offerings, from meat to vegetables, seafood and egg to go with your rice. Of course, prices depends on what you order and you wouldn’t really know until it’s time to pay, and that’s where the stall owners will calculate - less on the portions, but more of the type of ingredient.

The star of the dish, the curry sauce has a harmonious blend of spices, creating a flavourful sauce that is neither too spicy or too mid, with a hint of sweetness as well. It’s creamier and lighter in consistency than other curry dishes.

It’s a comforting and satisfying meal, perfect after a day at the nearby beaches or just a satisfying meal with each bite.
