This is one of the many Granny’s Pancake stalls in Singapore and has been around for over 10 years. It is currently helmed by Mr Ng who also happens to be the original owner of Granny’s Pancake. Surprisingly, the name of the store wasn’t because he used his grandmother’s recipe and he actually named it such as it reminded him of his grandparents’ era instead. He also had not been given a recipe to follow and instead, he had to go through plenty of trial and error before he managed to perfect his recipe. Mr Ng also supplies the flour and filling to all the stalls in Singapore to keep the recipe consistent.

A sizeable peanut pancake here costs just 80 cents and this comes packed with a generous filling of crushed peanuts and sugar. I really love how thick and chunky the mian jiang kueh is here and the peanut to pancake ratio is almost equal. The peanut bits are also very fresh and nutty so every bite creates an addictive crunch — it’s the perfect thing to have for breakfast in the morning. Do support this mian jiang kueh chain — it is so rare to find mian jian kueh these days in Singapore, let alone such good ones!
