Located at the bustling Golden Mile Hawker Centre, Chung Cheng Chilli Mee specialises in as its name says, chilli mee.

Apart from that, it also sells laksa and prawn mee, which are also written in its signboard.

The stall is listed in the Singapore Michelin Plate 2019 guide, which are establishments where Michelin inspectors have discovered quality food.

The founder, Mr Yeo, used to sell his noodles from a pushcart outside Chongzheng Primary School in Tampines before eventually moving to Golden Mile Food Centre in the 1970s. He came to Singapore from Sarawak to escape the war.

Currently, the stall is run by the second and third-generation members of his family.

Signature

Chilli Mee, Prawn Mee

While their chilli mee is popular, I really wanted to try their laksa and had no regrets at all.

I queued for about 15 to 20 minutes for the food as there was only one woman manning the stall.

The laksa here is extremely unique and isn't your usual rendition. The one here is laced with something that tasted like lemongrass, giving it a Thai flavour that mixed well with the creamy, luxurious flavours of the laksa. —  I couldn't help but lap up that gravy!

The noodles were also al dente and came with a decent amount of ingredients. Will definitely order this again, but I'd also really like to try the prawn mee and chilli mee.
