The three-generation family-run stall has been around for almost six decades and specialises in as its name says — briyani.

Currently, the business is run by Hannan, who is carrying on his grandfather's legacy despite having a diploma in mechatronics. He started taking over the reins right after he finished his National Service over a decade ago.

There are three options of briyani — Mutton Briyani, Curry Chicken Briyani and Fried Chicken Briyani, with the signatures being Mutton and Curry Chicken.

They usually close when they sell out for the day — which happens very fast! — so do come down early to avoid disappointment.

I've grown up eating briyani so I'm very particular about the quality. I'm happy to say that the one from Geylang Briyani Stall hits all the right spots and made me feel all sorts of nostalgia!

The briyani here comes as it is — a generous pile of fluffy basmati rice topped with the meat of your choice dripping in gravy.

I was torn between the curry chicken and lamb but eventually picked the curry chicken. Just as I had hoped, the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender and very succulent. The copious amount of gravy also completed the meal and I enjoyed mine by mixing it in with the rice. All-in-all, a very simple yet satisfying meal that I would crave for.
