Ru Ji Kitchen at Holland Drive Food Centre is always seen with a lot of crowd and people waiting for their bowls of noodles and bouncy fish balls. Firstly, fish balls are said to be hand made, which is why you see the inconsistency in the shapes, but that’s what makes it nice and unique.

As it spans two stalls, one might lead to assume that this is definitely worth the hype because we all know that rental costs in Singapore is expensive. But to be able to survive this long in Singapore, one can safely say you are queuing for a gem.

While the shopkeepers aren’t exactly too friendly, they deliver their job professionally, making each bowl when ordered and making sure orders are done right. With options for dry, soup, type of noodles etc, one can go back for their bowls of gems rather often

I ordered Bak Chor Mee dry and of course, had fish ball with it as well, as that’s what people go to Ru Ji for. For dry noodles, you’ll definitely want to go for spicy option, as it gives that extra twang and layer of spice to it.

The noodles is springy, slightly chewy, and tossed in just enough sauce to coat each strand without being too greasy or cloying. The fish ball is chewy, springy and has a nice salty flavour to it. Each bite was really delicious - spicy, flavourful and a tad salty. The quintessential Singaporean dish for a warm and hearty meal.
