Ming Fa at Holland Village Market is one for the books. Tucked inside the bustling Holland Village where there are full of cafes, restaurants and bars, is a rather small hawker centre that sells a good selection of food for locals and tourists alike.
If you are there during the day for lunch, then expect some queue at Ming Fa - for it is rather known in the area. Even during dinner time as well. The stallowner cooks and receives the order all by himself, so do consider some in between. Always usually spotted with a queue, be sure to factor in ample time for that as well.
In terms of variety of food, type of noodles as well as the ingredients that go with it, are all up for selection. Always, go for the dry option if you'd ask me because that's when you can taste the chilli, the sauce and the very flavourful soup all in one meal.
This hawker centre is rather clean, just that it can get quite hot during the day.
I ordered the classic Bak Chor Mee - a staple for many locals who are looking for a humble, warm bowl of noodles to fill the tummy.
I had to wait about 10 minutes for my turn and another 5 to get my food. Overall, I'd say it was worth the wait because the meal was quite delicious.
The noodles were quoted with the sauce and chilli well, and had a good bite to it. The ingredients were fresh and added a good additional texture to the palate.
In terms of portion size, it was good for 1 person, but if you are a hungry beast, then I'd recommend to ask for additional noodles or a larger portion. No point in getting the extra ingredients though.
Despite the hot weather and eating there was rather hot, it was a satisfying meal overall.
