Tucked away at Jurong West 505 Market & Food Centre, is 128 Fish Porridge, a humble business that has been around for decades.
The award-winning shop often sees snaking queues during peak meal periods but as the shop owners are fast, these are cleared within 10 minutes.
The menu is simple but substantial and consists of options like fish sliced bee hoon, slice fish soup and fish porridge. If you want more variety, you can also opt for their seafood soup which comes with ingredients like prawns!
I came around 12:30pm on a Saturday so peak lunch crowd! There was a queue and about five people in front of me in the line but this moved relatively fast and before I knew it, I had ordered my food and it was served to me. You can order the soup on its own but I highly recommend to get rice to go with it too!
I got the sliced fish soup and this was laden with thick, fleshy slices of fish and some cabbage. The fish was of good quality and had an excellent bite! Fish was also not flaky nor mushy. The soup was flavourful as well but it was a bit oily for my liking. Nonetheless, I can see why people like the food here so much!
