Maxwell Food Centre is home to MANY chicken rice stalls, with the more prominent ones being Ah Tai Chicken Rice and Tian Tian Chicken Rice. These stalls always see long, snaking queues.
However, one severely underrated stall is Maxwell Hainanese Chicken Rice, which is a few stalls down from all the famous ones.
This stall has been around the hawker centre for years and specialises in just chicken rice. You can opt for chicken rice or even order a whole chicken, if you are planning to share it with more people. There is also liver, gizzards and oyster sauce vegetables if you want to have more elements to your meal.
I wasn't keen on queueing for the other popular stalls so I decided to try this instead, and boy was I glad I did!
The chicken rice here is so underrated! The poached chicken is silky, moist and oh-so-tender. Fat to meat ratio is perfect and the meat is so plump and juicy.
The rice also is fluffy and fragrant, wasn't too greasy either.
Pair the food with the provided sauces like chilli and ginger for more depth of flavours.
If you can't bother queueing for Tian Tian Chicken Rice or Ah Tai, come here instead!
