Fu Shun Shao La Mian Jia was established in 2008 and is helmed by Mr Chan Tuck Kwai. Mr Chan began his forage into the culinary world when he was just a teenager and has cooking ever since then.
Worried about not being able to find the stall? Fret not as its long, snaking queues make it easy to spot, even from afar. Be warned, you may have to queue for at least 30 minutes if you come during peak periods like lunchtime!
The meats here are all cooled with a charcoal oven, giving it its iconic, smokey taste. Menu items here include wanton noodles, duck noodles and roast duck rice. Want to try a little bit of everything? Then get the Mixed Meat Noodle or Mixed Meat Rice for more variations.
As I wanted to try a little bit of everything, I ordered myself a plate of Mixed Meat Noodles ($5) which came with a bed of springy noodles topped with char siew, roast pork and roast duck doused in a viscous gravy.
I can see why the queues for the roast meat here are so long. The char siew had an excellent caramelisation, while the duck was tender and moist. The roast pork also had extremely crispy skin with a good fat to meat ratio.
Even the noodles were well-cooked and were springy with a good bite. The sauce also enhanced it, giving flavour with every bite.
