When it comes to Yong Tau Fu, it feels that it’s easy to never go wrong. And while that is far from the truth, I do have to say that preparation for each bowl isn’t as complicated as other stalls that are there.

People’s Park Food Centre is packed and noisy and I mean, really noisy during the weekends. It can be even rather dirty if you come in during the peak hours. However, that’s not to say to avoid this place for some of the stalls, like this, is quite a good lunch option to satisfy your cravings.

This stall seems to be run by a mother-son pair, and options for the ingredients are rather varied and a good amount of variety to choose from - the vegetables, the meat and seafood options. Of course, the main staples like noodles, rice and bee hoon, and your choice or soup or dry.

When it comes to getting your lunch fix or a bowl of comfort soup-based food that you want quick and fast, I’d say go for this classic yong tau fu stall. Sometimes, classic and just being ‘plain’ isn’t a bad thing. It is also away from the crazy noisy main areas inside of the food centre, which may get pretty overwhelming.

The older lady, whom I presume is the mother of the pair, isn’t the most friendliest person there is, but she does her job well - cooking the ingredients and getting the tasty soup for customers.

It’s a standard bowl that warms the heart and soul. The soup is a little on the salty side, but has a great deep sweet-salty taste, cooked with soy beans. Of course, with the chilli that I’d recommend you go with, just gives the extra punch and a good dip for your ingredients.
