Yu Kee Duck Rice has been around for over 60 years since 1961 and the founder, Mr. Seah Boon Lock, started the business as a small duck rice food stall in the Sembawang kampong area.
In 2002, the brand relocated to Woodlands Terrace and in 2017, they branched out even further to set up a food court at the University of Social Sciences.
Now, they have multiple duck rice stalls across Singapore so everyone can enjoy their food!
Delicious duck dishes you can look forward to trying include Braised Duck Handmade Mee Kia, Duck Porridge and the Speciality Duck Rice. Apart from duck, they also sell Char Siew Rice and Roasted Pork Rice.
When I came in the late afternoon, the stall was one of the few ones at the hawker centre that were still open for business — lucky me!
I got myself a set that comes with duck, egg, tau kwa (beancurd) peanuts, preserved vegetables and your choice of rice and kway. I really like how this set had so much variety, almost like a bento set!
The duck was moist and tender with a decent fat-to-meat ratio. It also paired perfectly with the kway, which came doused in a sweet soup. The chilli also had a good amount of spice.
