Hock Gai (Hong Lim) Curry Chicken Noodle has been around since way before Bedok Interchange Hawker centre’s renovation back in 2013. However, they were originally located somewhere nearby Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre for more than 20 years before moving to their current location and the original owner handed the business to the current owner 8 years ago. The stall is currently run by the staff and the actual owner works at another venue and manages the back-end operations. Their curry chicken noodles are so good that they’ve even been awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand title in 2019!

I’ve not had many bowls of curry chicken noodles in Singapore but even so, I still think that this one would be my all-time favourite. I queued for 15 minutes for it but it was so worth it! Each bowl comes loaded with ingredients like fried beancurd strips, sliced chicken, potatoes, bean sprouts and your choice of noodles. This is then doused in a generous amount of curry gravy that is simmered in a large pot at the front of the store. I was honestly expecting the gravy to be cloying but surprisingly, it was light while managing to retain all that flavour. It was also not too spicy which is great for people with low spice tolerances! I also really loved the chicken slices which still remained tender even after being cooked for so long. There was really a lot of ingredients in the bowl too and there was enough to accompany every single spoonful of noodles. I polished off the food really wish — my only regret was not ordering a larger bowl of it!
