JEFRI is one of the more famous stalls at the ever-crowded Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre, so be prepared to queue for a plate of chicken rice goodness. Singapore may be known for our Hainanese Chicken Rice, but this plate is an extension of our national dish - by serving an ‘orange’ rice with tender roasted chicken. Don’t be fooled by the colour of the rice - it isn’t as spicy as you would assume, in fact - it can be considered a little sweet to some. However, if you can’t take spice then perhaps prepare a cup of milk as a standby.
The chicken has been marinated and roasted for hours to get that unique flavour customers have come to love. Whether you reside in the East or anywhere around Singapore, the trip to Bedok will be worth it.

I didn’t expect much when I was told it was ‘chicken rice’ because I thought how far can a plate of chicken rice be vastly different? And I was wrong. The rice, though in a distinctive orange, was a perfect combination of sweet and spice, and paired really well with the flavourful chicken. Although the chicken may look like it’s dry and gamey, it was actually far from it. Though it looked like breast meat - which isn’t my favourite part of the chicken, I came to really like the generous portion of the chicken meat. Will definitely be back for more.
