Geylang Lor 20 Banana Fritters was founded in the 1980s but has been at the famous Old Airport Food Centre for over a decade. It is run by a husband and wife duo who take turns to man the stall. They’re famous for their banana fritters which are coated in a special secret batter before being fried. Despite having a physical store, they now also have adapted to the Covid-19 situation and have an online store so that they can provide islandwide delivery. They also plan on expanding to have ready-to-eat meals.

I love banana fritters so I was excited to try the ones here. These were freshly fried and neatly displayed in the glass display case that sits at the front of the stall. There were also actual bananas hanging above the glass case from the ceiling and I’m guessing that it’s to make it convenient to pluck and fry on the spot! I was pleasantly surprised to see that the banana fritters here were sizeable and each piece was a little longer than my hands. These were fried to a beautiful golden brown and had an addictive crunchy exterior, while the banana itself was soft and creamy. It also wasn’t too overly greasy which helps make it less cloying. Makes a good snack in between meals!
