The humble stall at Old Airport Road Food Centre is run by Mr Vincent Lim, who is occasionally helped out by his son.
The original outlet is located at Ang Mo Kio and has been there for over 20 years. They also have several other outlets across Singapore that sell a mixture of rice and congee dishes. This outlet at Old Airport Road just specialises in congee.
They have a variety of delicious congee such as Minced Meat Peanut Congee, Pork Congee and even Pig's Organ Congee. Those who want something more premium can get their Prawn Ball Congee.
I'm a huge fan of porridge so I was excited to try Xin Mei Congee out!
I went down on a Saturday afternoon a little after the lunch period so the place was relatively empty. I managed to have a nice chat with Mr Lim's son, who was helping him and a staff run the stall in his absence.
I ordered myself a bowl of their Pork Congee and this was generously topped with fried you tiao for that extra crunch.
The congee was one of the creamier ones I've tried, similar to what you can get from a Chinese restaurant. The meat was also uber tender and paired perfectly with the congee. A must-try when you're at Old Airport Food Centre!
