While Hougang Jing Jia Mutton Soup has the word 'Hougang' in its name, it's actually not situated there.

It's now tucked away at the back row of the bustling Old Airport Road Food Centre and they have been there for years.

They've also been covered by food bloggers like ieatishootipost.

The stall, like its name says, specialises in herbally, gamey bowls of mutton soup. This is made with different parts of the animal.

So, you can enjoy the mutton tendons or ribs. If you like a bit of everything, you can get the mixed soup. Those who are feeling a bit more adventurous can opt for the lamb brain and meatballs soup.

Mutton soup is one of those dishes that you either love or hate. I love me some mutton so I am glad to see that establishments like Hougang Jing Jia Mutton Soup are still around!

When I reached on a weekend afternoon there was not much of a queue and I got my food pretty quickly. As I waited, I stared mesmerised at the large pot of mutton soup just bubbling away. Even after leaving the stall, I could still smell that goodness!

I ordered myself their mutton soup for more variety. I must say, the cloudy soup is not for the faint hearted. It was full-bodied, thick and extremely gamey, even for me. But those who love lamb will definitely appreciate this!

My bowl was also generously loaded with lamb meat and innards. Goes great with rice!
