Specialising in carrot cake, Fu Ming Cooked Food is located in Redhill Food Centre. Awarded 5 chopsticks from Makansutra in 2007.
Carrot cake, also known as Chai Tow Kway (菜头粿), is white raddish cake.
Choose between the white type or the black type (prepared with dark soya sauce). Uses a lot of eggs.
Choose from $3, $4 and $5 portions. Mixed Chai Tow Kway (white and black) only available for the $5 portion.
Let them know how much chilli you want when asked.

Even when I went at 12pm, they were still preparing to open their stall, so I bought the mixed type 10 minutes later.
Took a peek as they were cooking, lots of eggs!
Both types of chai tow kway were rich in flavour, chewy in texture. The white one had a stronger egg taste, whereas then black one was more fragrant!
The egg was salted, slightly oily for my taste, but I appreciate how thoroughly seasoned the carrot cake was!
