Sarawak Kolo Mee at Tampines Round Market & Food Centre is undeniably one of the more popular kolo mee stalls in Singapore.
The business has been around for decades and always has one of the longest queues in the market.
For the uninitiated, kolo mee is a Malaysian dish that consists of dry noodles tossed in a savoury pork and shallot mixture and garnished with an array of ingredients like char siew, wontons and vegetables.
This stall in particular has won multiple awards and was featured in several newspapers and food blogs, which is a testament to how good it is!
I visited the hawker centre early in the morning on a Saturday and the queue was already 20 minutes long. Even after I had bought my food and finished it, the line was still going strong — all the other shops had already begun to close too!
I ordered myself a classic bowl of their Signature Sarawak Kuching Kolo Mee Set Meal ($7) which featured springy noodles topped with fried wontons, boiled wontons, pork spare ribs, char siew, green vegetables and chilli.
The noodle texture was very springy and chewy, just the way I like it. I also love how there is an abundance of ingredients so you get a little bit of something in every bite. For the price point, it is really quite a good deal!
